Here’s our story.

The idea of a Christian coffeehouse & music venue came in response to the need for teens and college age young adults to have a place to call their own.  In November of 1997, a multi denominational group of pastors along with their supportive congregations worked together to accomplish just that.  The Upper Room Ministries opened on March 7, 1998.

As support increased so did the need for a larger facility.  After a couple of moves the non-profit ministry purchased a building in the heart of downtown Statesville, where it has now been located for 19 years.

The Upper Room is continuing to cross boundaries as we cultivate that authentic community through community events such as afterschool tutoring, live concerts, women’s events, and Special Needs Socials.

Since our opening, God has touched and changed many lives within the walls of the Upper Room. The environment crosses boundaries and social settings, and provides a safe haven for those who had not found a place to “fit”.

Our mission is to cultivate an authentic community as we provide light to the lost and wandering, disciple the found, and reflect the love and truth of Christ to all.
